Church Council Members
The Bethel Lutheran Church Council is a group of individuals devoted to ensuring that the mission and vision of the church is carried out. Their primary focus is to oversee the administration and ministries of the church, and to guide staff and volunteers in developing strong disciples in Christ.
In 2002 there was a reorganization of the Church Council and the size of the council was reduced from thirteen members to seven. Prior to the reorganization, the Council was directly involved in the implementation of ministries, worship planning, and other congregational activities. It was decided that given the increasing size of the congregation the Bethel staff would become more responsible for the day-to-day activities, allowing the Council time to plan and vision in God’s guidance.
The monthly Council meetings include both pastoral and program staff. This arrangement allows the Council to hear directly about programs; which are effective, what needs to be revised. Meetings are open, honest and thorough. One of the strengths Bethel Lutheran strives for is to listen; to one another, to those outside the Bethel community, and to God. This practice begins with the leaders of the church with the expectation that it will carry though all of the ministries of Bethel Lutheran Church now and in the years to come.
