Scrip is an excellent way to earn money for summer trips simply be shopping like you normally do, but with Scrip!
hat is Scrip?
Scrip is a great way to grow your family's trip account for any of the Bethel summer trips. Bethel has a tradition of encouraging our youth in grades eight through twelve to participate in summer trips as a means of learning to reach out to others, create relationships with other Bethelites, experience faith growth, and encounter new adventures.
As a fundraiser, the purpose behind Scrip is to grow your trip account using dollars that you are spending anyway. This means that dollars you are spending for groceries, gas, prescriptions, birthday presents, fast food, or going out to eat can increase your trip account without spending extra money. Each card or certificate carries the face value of the purchased amount, but the pledged percent from the retailer then goes into your trip account. The cards carry any unused balance from one purchase to another just like any other gift card.
What if I don't have a child going on a trip?
You're still welcome to purchase Scrip cards and either designate a Bethel youth who is going on a summer trip, or designate that the funds should go to the scholarship fund.
How does this fundraiser work?
Scrip has recently transitioned to an online-only system. Signing up is easy and enables you to earn money toward trips at your convenience using either a desktop platform and/or a smartphone “app.” Cards can be purchased in three different formats: e-cards, physical cards, and reloadable cards (you would first need to purchase a physical card). Many physical cards offer, for a very nominal fee, a “ship to home” option. Other physical cards, which do not carry a “ship to home” option can still be ordered and would be delivered to church! Any cards of that type will be placed as a bulk order on the first Monday of each month, so a little bit of advance planning will be required.
Sound confusing? Have questions? Please contact Krista Sorenson at cksorenson@charter.net or 612/840-3626 with any questions or to receive information on how to sign up for the online program!
