This project started with a vision to have our children create something beautiful and meaningful while experiencing “process”…something often lacking in our instant gratification society.
Then came the theme, which was God Creates Us Uniquely: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10
Next came the design with Pointillism stylistic influence (i.e., Georges Seurat) and high-quality acrylic paint selected as the medium. Using only footprints and fingertips, our children created a triptych of three children playing on the surface of the earth, connected loosely across the 3 panels by a playful scarf. On one side of the triptych is night and the opposite side features a daytime skyline. We are all part of God’s beautiful creation, each uniquely designed down to the distinct fingerprints we possess, and yet we are also connected across the world as God’s children.
With brilliant direction by Dean Neuburger, this masterpiece was created entirely by the children, down to our three models who were traced and then those outlines were re-sized for the canvases. Vibrant and Connected can be enjoyed in person in Bethel’s East Pod.
